Buffalo Lawn –Its Origin, Features and the Different Varieties Available

Buffalo lawn is one of the most popular turf options for homes and commercial establishments. Its high tolerance towards shade is one of its most crucial factors that make it acceptable by most people. Prior to understanding its other benefits, let us take a look at the origins of the Buffalo Lawns.

Buffalo Lawns – Origins and types of Turf Quality

The Buffalo Lawn turf originated in Africa or the Caribbean islands and landed on Australian soil in the 1840’s in a ship named SS Buffalo. The lawn turf thus offloaded came to be known as Buffalo turf after the ship which helped to act as its carrier.

The original version of the Buffalo lawn turf was coarse and rough to the touch. Several descendants of this type still exist and are known as the original Buffalo lawns. The current breed of buffalo lawn turf known as soft leaf Buffalo is a softer and of afiner texture than its predecessor. It feels velvety soft and is indeed a pleasant experience to tread on.

There currently exist several varieties of soft leaf Buffalo lawn. To understand which one suits your need the best, let us take a look at some of these a bit closer.
