Once you decide to lay off new turf in your garden, just follow the following steps to see an impressive result.

•    First and foremost it is important to buy turf for your garden. Before finalizing you need to check whether the turf is suitable for your lawn. Ask the supplier to deliver the turf at your place and ask him the probable date by which it would be delivered. This way you would get enough time to prepare your lawn and garden. Do not forget to check the grass quality and if there are any weeds or not.

•    You need to prepare your garden for the new turf. If it’s that you are replacing the grass, and then remove the old one completely. The better prepared your garden would be, there would be higher chances of survival of the grass during the first week.

•    For removing the grass, you would need a turf stripper. If you do not have one, do not worry, you can get them from a local hire shop. Also spray herbicides over the grass to kill off any weeds present there.

•    While stripping off the old grass, make sure that there is suitable amount, and say 15 cm of top soil underneath your turf. If you find that the quality of the soil is poor then uses compost for improving the quality of the soil.

•    Now, by walking over the soil compact it, so that it does not move under the new turf for creating gaps. Rake the soil after applying fertilizer over it.

•    If planned properly, you would find that Matilda Buffalo grass would arrive soon just as you complete preparing the soil. Now, lay the turf over the soil so that they get maximum time for surviving. If it becomes late then the turf may die.

•    While laying the turf, be on a plank so that you can avoid stepping on the soil. When you are laying the turf, lay the first roll at the longest side of your lawn. Then start with the second strip and lay it beside the first one. Remember that the entire turf should be in contact with the top soil.
After you lay the turf, you would find that there is risk with it for the first week. You need to take special care during this period. Water it often so that it does not dry, again remember that too much watering is also not good for the soil as they may become watery.
